KindHide™ FAQs:
Your Guide to Gentle Care

Everything you need to know about using KindHide™ safely and effectively for every coat and condition.

1. Product Comparison & Selection

Q: What’s the difference between the Standard and Sensitive powders?
A: The Standard formula is designed for horses, cattle, mules, and donkeys that need robust moisture and odor defense. The Sensitive formula is made for dogs, goats, mini pigs, llamas, alpacas, sheep — and livestock with delicate or easily irritated skin — offering a baking-soda-free, gentler solution.

Q: Can I use the Sensitive formula on a horse with irritated skin?
A: Yes. The Sensitive blend is safe for horses or livestock with skin that’s itchy, inflamed, or healing. For everyday heavy-use barn conditions, the Standard formula remains recommended.

2. Application & Use

4. Safety & Ingredients

3. Effectiveness & Expectations

Q: How soon will I see results?
A: While every animal and condition differs, many owners report noticeable improvement — reduced itching, less moisture buildup — within 3-7 days of consistent use. Full resolution may take longer depending on case severity.

Q: Will it stop rain rot or fungus completely?
A: KindHide is formulated to support skin healing, moisture control, and a healthier environment for skin. It’s highly effective, but for severe cases you may need to combine with veterinary advice or external treatments. Use consistently and follow the “Directions for Use” for best outcomes.

Q: How often should I apply KindHide powder?
A: For active skin issues (rain rot, hives, etc.), apply once or twice daily until you see improvement. For regular maintenance or odor prevention, apply 2-4 times weekly, or after exercise, grooming, or heavy sweat.

Q: How do I apply the powder correctly?
A:

  1. Ensure the area is clean and dry.

  2. Sprinkle the powder evenly onto the coat or skin.

  3. Use your fingertips or a soft brush to work it in gently. Avoid blowing powder toward the face or eyes.

Q: Can I use KindHide powder under tack, boots, or blankets?
A: Absolutely — both formulas are designed for use in high-moisture barn settings and under gear to help prevent rubs and friction.

Q: Why choose a baking-soda-free formula?
A: Baking soda can be an effective deodorizer but is highly alkaline. On sensitive or broken skin it may sting or disrupt the skin barrier. Our Sensitive formula is 100% baking-soda-free, making it safe for delicate coats and frequent use.

Q: Is it safe if my animal licks or grooms itself?
A: Yes. KindHide uses food-grade, non-toxic ingredients. However, this product is meant for external use only — it should not be ingested in large quantities.

Q: Are your ingredients cruelty-free and transparent?
A: Yes. KindHide is a woman-owned small business committed to integrity. Every jar is cruelty-free, made in small batches in the USA, and clearly labeled with key active ingredients.

5. Shipping & Storage

Q: How should I store the powder?
A: Store in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly closed. Avoid humid environments or direct sunlight to maintain texture and efficacy.

Q: What is the shelf life?
A: When stored properly, KindHide powders remain effective for 12–18 months. If the texture becomes clumpy or loses flow, it’s time to refresh.

Q: Does it expire?
A: Our powders stay effective for at least 12–18 months when stored properly. You’ll know it’s time to refresh if the texture feels clumpy or less free-flowing.

6. Animals & Pets

Q: Is the KindHide™ Sensitive Formula safe for cats and other small pets (like rabbits or hamsters)?

A: The KindHide Sensitive Formula is designed to be one of the gentlest topical powders available for animals with delicate or reactive skin. It’s made with 0% Baking Soda and 0% Essential Oils, eliminating two of the most common irritants or ingestion risks for animals that frequently groom themselves — such as cats, rabbits, and other small pets.

Because it’s built from mild, food-grade ingredients like Arrowroot, Colloidal Oatmeal, and Kaolin Clay, it’s naturally soothing and non-toxic if trace amounts are ingested during grooming.

However, every small animal species has unique sensitivities and grooming habits. We recommend testing a small area first and consulting your veterinarian before applying any new product, especially on very small pets like hamsters or gerbils.

Q: Can I use KindHide™ on birds or reptiles?

A: We don’t recommend using KindHide™ on birds, reptiles, or other non-mammal species. Their skin and respiratory systems are much more sensitive, and powders — even natural ones — can cause irritation or inhalation risks.

KindHide™ is specially formulated for mammals with coats or hides such as horses, dogs, goats, cows, and llamas.
